A week in and I am 1/3 of the way through my word count goal for Camp NaNo. (I'm at 5118/15,000.)

(I hit "Post" before I was finished, so let's do this again.)

Coming back to Dreamwidth to state that I'm doing Camp NaNo in April.

I got busy back in November, so I didn't even come close to hitting 50,000. (This is why I like Camp NaNo better, tbh. I like setting my own goals.)

In other news, how's everyone doing?

I've got a lot of free time now and, other than writing, I'm using it to finish some craft projects. I'm hopeful that I'll get at least one of the bigger projects that's been sitting in my "To Finish" pile finished. I'm currently working on a Star Wars double knit scarf that I haven't touched in... longer than I'm going to admit. (The link over there goes to my Ravelry project entry for the scarf.)

I know I haven't been on here very much lately and that's probably not going to change because I've decided to do NaNoWriMo this year.

(Okay, maybe I'll do writing updates if I remember to like I did with Camp NaNo back in April.)

EDIT:
I've updated my Links List with a link to my NaNo profile because I just realized that I never put it in there.

Writing update

I just reached my writing goal (see last entry) of writing up the final 50 stories for The Musuem. I still need to get them scheduled up on Wordpress, but I'll do that over the weekend.

Writing goal for the next few days

I haven't been around here much lately, so here's some things:

I've renamed The Museum of Other Worlds to The Otherwhere Museum of Possibilities. (I've wanted to change the name of this for a while now, but never came up with a decent replacement until recently.)

And it's going to end at #500 because I want to focus more on my other writing projects. However, I do plan to continue it as something a bit different next year, though. (See details on this here.)

I've been trying to get as much of these short works written for the Museum this past month and a half - I only have 50 of these left to write before I hit #500.

And so, looping back to the title of this entry: my writing goal for the next few days is going to be finishing up these last 50 stories for The Museum.

Camp NaNo

Forgot to post this yesterday, but I finished Short Story #2! (Yes, still untitled.)

Camp NaNo Update

Welp, a week left in Camp NaNo and I've already hit the word count goal I set. And I've only just started on Short Story #2. (It's still untitled. I have no idea what to call it.)

I've already validated the project, even though I'm technically not finished with it, just to have that done with.

Short Story #2 is coming along fine, though. Plot stuff is happening and the like. I'm sure I'll get it done by next Tuesday.

Camp NaNo Progress

Two and a bit weeks in and I've finished one short story. It's about a ghost (Bright) and a robot (Ada). It's imaginatively titled Bright and Ada. It's about three times longer than I had planned it to be and needs some hefty editing and a bit of rewriting in some places. Overall, I'm happy with it.

I've got one more short story to finish and plenty of time to finish it in.

(I did have one more short story I wanted to finish. But I decided to just scrap it. I had already written the beginning and the end, but no middle bits. I wrote it a while ago and left no notes and now I can't remember what I was planning for it.)

So I'm doing Camp NaNo this month because I have a few half-finished short stories I'd like to finish and sometimes having a writing deadline like this helps. My goal is less "word count goal" this time and more "get some rough drafts finished".

Well, off to write.

My other blogs

I've updated my links and stuff to my new craft and writing blogs.

My new craft blog is up and running.

I've also set up a writing blog for my original stories. I've imported everything from The Museum of Other Worlds tumblr (my long term writing project), but I'm still slowly going through and editing tags. Eventually, I'll start posting some other short works I've been working on.

While I don't write anything NSFW (though I do write queer content, so...), I don't agree with Tumblr's new policies and how terribly they've implemented them. So, I've decided that I would rather not continue to use Tumblr for my original works anymore. I didn't care much for Blogger (which I had been using), so I decided Wordpress as the best alternative. (Especially since I can import Tumblr onto it, and it has a queue-like function, which I need to continue The Museum of Other Worlds as I did on Tumblr.)

New desk buddies

Meet my new desk buddies, Murder and Skully.

Skully has a tiny hole in her head from the tag, so I made a disproportionately large bow for her to cover it up. And, so Murder wasn’t left out, I made a little bow for him as well.

And here’s Bat:

Bat’s hanging out nearby. I’ve had her since, like, middle school. She’s usually hanging up somewhere in my room and has been since I got her.

I now own two copies of Pokemon Yellow.

You can probably imagine my surprise when, after borrowing some batteries from a remote, my Game Boy Color turned on. And still works. Well, mostly. The sound’s gone. (The GBC is propped up on a small notebook.)
